Harman took cash 'in good faith'

Harriet Harman said she had accepted "in good faith" a £5,000 donation which turned out to have come from a property developer under someone else's name.

Ms Harman was given the money by Janet Kidd during her successful bid to become Labour's deputy leader.

It has now emerged the money was David Abrahams'. He said he made the donation via Janet Kidd to protect his privacy.

Ms Harman said she "was not aware of any funding arrangements... between David Abrahams and Janet Kidd".

The statement issued on her behalf said she had "received a donation of £5,000 in good faith from Janet Kidd on the 4 July 2007".
